Scientific Circle of Geologists Students of the Jagiellonian University has been operating at ING UJ since the seventies.
In recent years, the Circle has been proud of the organization of such events as the National Conference of Geological Science Circles (2007) or the First International Student Geological Conference (1st Students' International Geological Conference, 2010), which has become a cyclical event, and members of the Circle actively participated in its subsequent annual editions in Latvia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
In 2014, we had the honour to organize the jubilee 20th European Congress of Geologists EUGEN (European Geoscience Students Network). The congress is held every year in a different country, thanks to which we had the opportunity to be in Slovenia, Belgium and Croatia.
Since 2017, the organisation has been arranging a student scientific conference - Geology Days. Previous editions have been a huge success, which is why this year's event is addressed to a wider group of students and is international. The main assumption of the event is to present the effects of scientific activity of students from various institutions and to establish cooperation between universities.
During the year, KNGS UJ also conducts field trips. During the semesters, these are usually areas of Poland (Pieniny, Świętokrzyskie Mountains, Izerskie Mountains). During the summer break, foreign trips are organized - Iceland, Ukraine, Morocco.
The organisation, in cooperation with ING employees, also conducts activities promoting science among children and young people (annual participation in the Science and Art Festival, Małopolska Night of Scientists, visits to schools, Children's Day at ING UJ).
