Infrared (IR) Absorption Spectrometry laboratory

IR-absorption Spectrometry Laboratory is equipped with BioRad FTS 135 Fourier transform infrared spectrometer operating in mid infrared range and a newly acquired state of the art Thermo Nicolette Is50 Fourier transform infrared spectrometer operating in both mid (MIR) and near infrared (NIR) ranges. FTIR spectra in MIR range can be collected for different kind of samples (clays, other minerals, soil and rock -organics) in transmission (using KBr, and in house invented Si-wafer-techniques) and ATR modes. NIR spectra are collected from the samples by application of integrating sphere. In the lab new measuring techniques (e.g. angle resolved technique) are also being developed.
